A variedtwo-day hikein the Lechquellengebirge mountains, featuring stunning views and a visit to one of Austria’s most beautiful spots—Lake Formarin.
Stage 1:
You start the hike inAußerbraz at theAlpen.Spa.Golf.Hotel Traube Braz, from where you follow theMason Trail. The trail zigzags steeply through the forest until you reach the scenic alpine meadows of the Mason Alpe. With the Roggelskopf always in view, the trail continues toward the Gwurfjoch and the Freiburger Hütte. Behind the hut, a stunning view opens up of the famous high-mountain lake, Lake Formarin. At theFreiburger Hütte, you can enjoy authentic Alpine cuisine, fresh air, and a fantastic sunny atmosphere. The hut offers both dormitory-style sleeping quarters and private rooms—reservations are requested.

Stage 2:
From the hut, follow theStebok-Wägthemed trail downhill toward Klostertal. Thetrailtakes you past nine stations highlighting the flora, fauna, and geological features of the Klostertal—and with a bit of luck, you might spot the ibex that gives the trail its name! The trail leads along wide alpine paths and, in sections, forest trails through theSchmiedetobel, past theMusterinalpe, and down toBargand. From there, it winds its way through the Sandtobel, across the Sponasa area to Obermason, and finally back to the Kristbergsaal inDalaas.
As an alternative to walking back, you can take a hiking bus from Alpe Formarin to Lech and then continue by local bus to Dalaas (cash payment on the bus).
