Tour description
The hike starts at the hiking car park in Marul. The gently ascending trail first follows the paved road towards Garfülla and Fuchswald Alpe. Continuing uphill, you follow the old alpine road to Alpe Laguz. After a relaxing break in the cozy Stüble (mountain hut restaurant), you continue to the Obere Laguzalpe. Alternatively, this section can also be covered using the hiking bus line 576 from Marul Church. From Laguz, a hiking trail leads via In der Enge to Lake Formarin.
After about 5¼ hours, you reach the Freiburger Hütte, beautifully situated by the Formarinsee beneath the Rote Wand mountain. Your overnight accommodation offers bright, comfortable rooms and dormitories, as well as excellent cuisine.
On Day 2, you hike back to the junction at In der Enge. From there, take the left-hand trail across the Schwarze Furka into the Faludriga-Nova nature reserve. The route then descends to the Fuchswald Alpe. To avoid taking the same path back as on the first day’s ascent, you can alternatively follow the Marul Forest Adventure Trail (Walderlebnispfad Marul) back to the hiking car park.

Equipment
Sturdy footwear, warm clothing, rain and sun protection, a packed snack and filled water bottle, as well as hiking poles are recommended. In addition, bring equipment for an overnight stay in a mountain hut. A mobile phone for emergencies.
Tip from the author
We recommend sure-footedness, a good head for heights, and alpine experience. The daily stages can be planned individually, depending on the weather and your preferences.
