Our Lady Chapel in Sonnenhalb | Dalaas
The Marienkapelle, a local place of pilgrimage, was built during the Baroque period on the Sonnenhalb plot. It houses one of the few known votive paintings from the Klostertal valley—the one dedicated to Anna Maria Neier, dating from 1800.
The Chapel of St. Mary in the Sonnenhalb parcel was built during the Baroque period , a feature it shares with most of the chapels in the Klostertal valley. Local pilgrimages were very popular in the 18th century. The newly built chapels in various districts were expressions of popular piety and the veneration of saints. In Sonnenhalb, the Virgin Mary was venerated; the current design of this charming building, featuring a door painted in a striking shade of blue, dates from the late 19th century.
The altar design follows the styles of that era and is in the Neo-Romanesque style . There are only a few examples of votive images in the Klostertal—one of them is the one dedicated to Anna Maria Neier from the year 1800, which is located in the chapel.
