Bühel Plot | Dalaas
A plot of land with an old settlement center near the parish church. The name of the plot (“Bühel”) refers to the steepness of the terrain. Three old estates built in the typical architectural style are located on a terraced section of the land.
Its proximity to the parish church of St. Oswald suggests that the “Bühel” plot in Dalaas was settled at an early date. The name refers to the steep terrain; in the language of the Walser people, who also settled in Dalaas, a hill was calleda “Biel.”On a terraced level of the terrain stand three old estates that form an ensemble; all are built as log structures clad with shingles. They are typical examples of the style in which the old houses in the Klostertal were mostly expanded during the 19th century. Until then, most properties were “Paarhöfe,” meaning the house and barn were separate structures. This architectural style has been partially preserved to this day, while in other places, renovations have combined houses and barns under one roof.
