The magical landscape of the winter mountain world, the clean air and the bright winter days that are so good for health and wellbeing during wintertime have always made winter hiking a popular pastime. With currently approx. 150 km of signed winter paths in the region, which are constantly being extended and marked in accordance with the new uniform signage concept, it is possible to discover the fabulous landscape on foot or with snowshoes.
The choice ranges from the valleys (from 500 m) right up into the Alpine peaks (2,000 m), which are conveniently and quickly reached by lifts. Walkers can choose from a wide selection of tours with durations of one to a number of hours and from almost level to steeply inclined, depending on their condition and preference.

Modern mountain cable cars and ski lift facilities, perfectly prepared pistes and untouched slopes of deep snow – unadulterated skiing fun in the sporty Brandnertal family ski area.
Take the Dorfbahn cable car direct from the village to a varied ski area (55 km of pistes). Enjoy slopes for novices and experienced skiers. Savour the magic of refreshments at ancient mountain chalets. The Panoramabahn cable car links the Brand and Bürserberg ski areas.
Top pistes and challenging deep snow slopes, 31 km of pistes, 10 lifts and railways, up to 2,300 m reliable snow into late spring in the ski area Sonnenkopf in the Klostertal. Freeride ski area with demanding ski tour descents.
In the ski areas Faschina, Sonntag-Stein, Raggal and the nearby Damüls-Mellau are waiting cable cars and 132 km of pistes for active winter athletes. Families have the most wonderful time in these areas. Ride the skibus for free directly to the valley stations. Two ski- and snowboard schools are there to take beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders under their wing.
