Experience Formarinsee

All roads lead to Formarinsee ...

The Formarinsee can be reached in several ways: on foot from the Klostertal, Große Walsertal and Lech Zürs, by hiking bus from Dalaas or Lech or by bike through the Zugertal to the Formarinsee.

By Foot to Formarinsee

  • from Dalaas: Hiking trail via Mason, Mustrinalpe and Alpe Rauher Staffel to Formarinsee - Walking time: approx. 3 h
  • from Lech: after train, through the Zugertal and on to the Formarinalpe - walking time: approx. 5 h
  • from Braz: Hiking trail via Malarsch, Masonalpe and Gwurfjoch to Formarinsee - Walking time: approx. 6 h
  • Great Walsertal from Alpe Laguz (from Marul with hiking bus to Laguz) - Walking time: 2,5 h
  • Great Walser Valley from Sunday via Sonntag-Stein (cable car), Garmil and Laguzalpe - Walking time: 6 h

With the hiking bus

From Bludenz / Braz
With the Klostertal-Arlberg Card free with the Landbus Klostertal line 90 to Langen and line 91 to Lech. From there with the local / hiking bus Lech - lakes to Formarinsee (toll road!)

From Lech
The local bus Lech runs in summer as a hiking bus to Spullersee (Ravensburger Hütte) and Formarinsee (Freiburger Hütte). Hourly and in the high season also half-hourly between Lech and the lakes. Affordable parking is available in the underground car park Anger.

By Mountain Bike

Start of the tour is the municipality of Lech. First through the village in the direction of Zürs. At the Rüfikopfbahn the road to the right branches off to Zug. Through the car-free Zugertal the path leads you past the Älpele until you reach a fork in the road. Continue straight on until Formarin Alpe and then around Formarinsee to the Freiburgerhütte. Return via the same route.

Travel time: approx. 3 hours round trip
Length: about 30 km round trip
