Although it does not look like it at first glance, Sonntag is the largest community in the Biosphere Park Großes Walsertal. The houses of the scattered settlement are far apart, as typical in the mountain villages of the Alps. Around the village church is formed the village center, where also the interesting local museum has its place. Connoisseurs get their money's worth in the biosphärenpark.haus. There you will find the famous Walserstolz mountain cheese and a selection of delicacies directly from the region. The family ski resort Sonntag-Stein turns into a hiking paradise in summer. On the edge of the largest nature reserve in Vorarlberg lies the district Buchboden where you can make various hikes in Gadental.
The family-friendly ski resort of Sonntag-Stein has a lot to offer. Whether cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoe hiking, tobogganing or skiing, Sonntag-Stein has it all.
Far away from the crowds, you can find peace back on the many winter hiking trails. Guided snowshoe hikes, visits to the dairy and cultural events round off the winter in the Großes Walsertal Biosphere Reserve.
Families hear the sounds of nature on the Klangraum Stein before regaining strength at the barbecue area with a home-baked Calzone from the clay oven. Sporty hikers climb the Wandfluh or the Breithorn and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Große Walsertal.
And the culmination of each tour in the hiking area Sonntag-Stein is a visit to one of the managed huts.
