Tour description

Stage 1

From Brand, take the bus (line 580) or walk via Schattenlagant to the valley station of the Lünerseebahn cable car. From here either on foot via the Bösen Tritt or by cable car to the Douglass Hütte. Turn left along the shore to Alpe Lünersee. Here the path branches off in the direction of Lindauer Hütte. Follow the hiking trail over the Verajoch, on to the Schweizertor, up to the Öfapass and then down to the Lindauer Hütte.

Duration: approx. 4.5 hours (on foot from Brand with Lünerseebahn 6 hours / without Lünerseebahn 7 hours)

Stage 2

From the Lindauer Hütte to the Drusentor and then further along the Rätikon high trail to the Schesaplana Hütte. Most of the route is on Swiss territory.

Stage 3

From the Schesaplana Hütte, an alpine trail leads to the Schesaplana, the highest peak in the Rätikon. From the summit, the descent is via the Brandner Glacier to the Mannheimer Hütte. Alpine experience and surefootedness required.

Stage 4

From the Mannheimer Hütte, the Leibersteig trail continues down to the Oberzalim Hütte. From there, continue along the Zalimweg trail through the picturesque Zalimtal valley towards Brand.

We recommend surefootedness, a head for heights and alpine experience. You can divide the ascent per day and hours according to the weather and your needs.
The times given are approximate. Depending on fitness, weather conditions or other circumstances, the walking time may be shorter or longer.
