Exhibition: Emmanuel Troy

Emmanuel Troy was born in 1993, grew up in Egg, and lives and works in Vienna and Schwarzenberg. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and sculpture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he graduated in 2019 under Hans Schabus. His works have been exhibited internationally, including in Paris, Basel, New York, Berlin, Istanbul, and Toronto. In 2019, he received the 5x5 scholarship from the state of Vorarlberg and lived for work and study stays in New York. As part of a public art competition, he was commissioned to implement a sculpture design at the new Egger village square.

In his work, Emmanuel Troy engages intensively with the history of painting and sculpture. Both modern, avant-garde, and contemporary movements, as well as religious art and genre painting, exert a great influence on him. His works often reflect nature, interiors, and personal impressions. Artists such as Wilhelm Busch, Carl Spitzweg, and Honoré Daumier, who deal with the everyday and the comical, are among his influences, as are Arnold Böcklin and Caspar David Friedrich, whose romantic mood images are formative for his own work.
