Under the direction of Philipp Nesensohn, the famous “Mass in G major” by Franz Schubert will be performed - a masterpiece of church music that will touch the hearts of the audience with its sublime beauty and deep spirituality.the “Mass in G major” is characterized by its harmonic diversity and musical elegance. With powerful choral movements, moving solo parts and sensitive accompaniment by the ensemble, this performance brings Schubert's ingenious composition to life in an impressive way.
The GIOIA Choir and the ensemble konz.art join forces to present this work in its full splendor. The intimate yet powerful performance, which does not require an orchestra, will offer listeners a unique musical experience.
As a prelude to the Schubert Mass, alternative Mass parts by important composers will be heard. The choir and ensemble will present works by Thomas Caplin, Franz Herzog and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, opening up new perspectives on the theme of the mass.
The provost of St. Gerold, Father Martin Werlen, will draw on his extensive musical knowledge and bring us closer to Schubert's work. During the rehearsal weekend at St. Gerold's provostry, we prepared for the concert and got in the mood for this special venue.
The soloists are soprano Christine Schneider, tenor and Voices choir director Jakob Peböck and bass Erwin Weiss from the GIOIA choir. Gaby Walch will accompany them on the chest organ.
