Lecture - The Zürcherhaus - Architectural history research
The "Zürcherhaus" The investigations in the spring provided new insights into the building's construction history.
The "Zürcherhaus," also referred to as the “Ansitz Brunnenfeld,” is located at a cliff edge of the Ill in the Brunnenfeld district of Bludenz. The investigation conducted in spring 2025 in collaboration with building historian and dendrochronologist Dr. Klaus Pfeifer provided new insights into the building's construction history. The methodology of building research has developed intensively over the past 30 years, particularly through the use of modern tools in surveying technology and natural sciences. Only through precise deformation-compliant building documentation can structures in the ascending masonry and construction phases be extracted from the ground plan and elevation.
Observations of architectural deviations in wall alignments and wall surfaces, construction types of lumber, or art-historical peculiarities can be used for a construction-historical interpretation of the building structure. The combination with dendrochronological dating of construction timber results in a unique combination of findings that led to these conclusions.
