Bludenz days of Contemporary Music: Sophie Schafleitner & Krassimir Sterev

Sophie Schafleitner and Krassimir Sterev have countless musical adventures behind them, both as soloists and together in their large sound magic family, the Klangforum Wien. Two years ago, they decided to embark on another adventure – this time as a duo. It can be said, however, that when they play together, they sound almost like a single instrument capable of a unique, breathtaking sound palette.

Their skills and unique energy also inspire us composers. The trust that they will lead us exactly where we long to go is 100 percent there – we know that our works have found a true home in their hands. So far, among others, Sara Glojnarić, Christoph Dienz, and Frank Bedrossian have composed for them. In addition to compositions by these three composers, as well as two solo masterpieces by Rebecca Saunders, this time on the program commissioned by BTzM, is a yet unheard work by Liza Lim, one of the most exciting compositional voices of our time, as well as a new work by Kenta Onoda, the winner of our composition competition last year.
