According to the Walser traditions, cows and young cattle are "summered" on the 47 cultivated Alps in the Grosser Walsertal.
During the summer months - from June to the beginning of September - the farming families with their livestock move from their home or 'Maisäß' in the valley up to the Alps. During this time, wonderful alpine cheese and delicious alpine butter are produced on 22 Sennalpen.
Traditional places that are worth a leisurely hike and a long break.
