The story of tightrope walks, border crossing and overcoming In the historical development of the Brandnertal, the topic of "borders" always played an important role. In the meantime, however, this has largely disappeared from our consciousness. The historian Christof Thöny has worked on various aspects of the “border” phenomenon in a joint project with the Prättigau region on behalf of the Tal-creates-Kultur cultural initiative. “‘ The 'abbreviation' over the mountains to nearby Switzerland no longer has any meaning. Where smugglers used to travel on secret paths and where the ridge and border separated people from freedom during the Nazi regime (1938-1945), today only alpinists are on the move, ”explains Christof Thöny. The accession of Switzerland to the Schengen area took away the last dividing line from this high alpine border. The artistic director of Tal-Creates-Kultur, Thomas Ludescher, sees an important responsibility in coming to terms with the history that stands for this main topic. The results of this historical research will be presented to the public in an exhibition and publication from May 2021.
