Finally, summer cinema under the stars is back
Austria’s largest summer cinema tour is stopping by at the Bergbahnen Brandnertal. Is there anything more exquisite than watching a film on the big screen under the stars in summer? On Thursday, 13 July 2023, sunset will announce the start of the open-air cinema evening. As to what film will be shown, that’s up to the audience. Two tickets will be given away amongst all the voters.
For all those who don’t get lucky in the prize draw, tickets can be purchased online or (if available) at the evening box office. Although it is not possible to reserve seats like you would in a normal cinema, you are guaranteed a seat.

How does the silent cinema work?
How often do you get the chance to catch a classic film on a gigantic cinema screen under the open skies at 1,600 metres above sea level? This one-of-a-kind location creates a very special atmosphere, and refreshments are served too: the Alpengasthof Melkboden and the restaurant Goona prepare suitable drinks, meals and snacks.
Every cinemagoer is given their own pair of wireless headphones and uses the two channels to select whether they wish to listen to the film dubbed in German or in the original language. Please bring ID as a deposit.
What happens if it rains?
If the weather doesn’t play along, we’ll postpone the cinema evening to the alternate date. Obviously the tickets remain valid.
What do I need to bring?
It can get quite cool on the mountain in the evening. We recommend that our cinema guests wrap up warm and bring a blanket. And please bring a form of ID to use as a deposit for borrowing the headphones.
