Tanz.Art: Tango Argentino

The tango was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009. With its passionate power, it fascinates people of different cultures, social classes, ages and skin colours all over the world. To this day, it reflects the movement expression, music and poetry of Argentine society and has lost nothing of its power and essence - its roots continue to shape its aesthetics and philosophy. The dance duo Claudia Grava and Martin Birnbaumer of the Vorarlberg tango company Tangissimo have been teaching tango for over 20 years. In the lecture performance "Tango Argentino... An Embrace in Changing Times" they lead the audience through an evening of dance, music, poetic texts, videos and anecdotes to get closer to the essence of this art form. The Argentinian musician Jonatan Blaty enriches the performance with his bandoneon playing.

Audience discussion afterwards
A sensual embrace is an essential element in tango. Without it, tango dancing seems meaningless. In corona times, couple dancing suffers greatly under the rules of "physical distancing". Does society suffer too? To what extent? Is there a substitute? If so, which one? These topical questions will be explored in an audience discussion following the performance. Prices: Advance booking € 16,- / € 14,- | Box office € 18,- / € 16,-.
