Long night of the churches

Bludenzer Klanghimmel - bell concert for the night of the churches 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
More than twelve tons of church bells form the sound silhouette of the Alpine town of Bludenz. The venerable, 515-year-old dozen bell is one of the most valuable bells in the country. Eighteen bells from eight towers present their sound, from the 45 kg chapel bell to the mighty bass bell weighing over three tons. From different towers they sound individually, in combinations and end together in a unique sea of sound to usher in the “Long Night of the Churches” and as a resounding call to peace.

7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Insights into the history of the Bludenz churches
The diversity of the churches within the urban area of Bludenz is the focus of a tour. Starting from the former parish church of St. Laurentius, whose origins go back to the early Middle Ages and which was rebuilt at the turn of the modern era, the path leads to the hospital church (Dreifaltigkeitskirche). This was once located within the city walls and was rebuilt after the last great city fire in 1682. The end point is the new parish church of the Holy Cross, built in the 1930s.

from 8 p.m. Young Bludenz organ tones
In the musical rounding off, the “Bludenzer Klanghimmel” condenses in an organ concert by 19-year-old organist Larissa Scheier. The organ built by Martin Pflüger in the Heilig Kreuz Church in 1992 has 44 registers on three manuals and pedals and is delighted with the playful conclusion of this night in the city of Bludenz.

The currently valid Corona guidelines apply.
