The Swallow

Fly high, root deep.
Where spring comes from, where summer goes.
Quiet! Sleep in autumn and winter.
As soon as the swallow unites with air, mosquitoes quickly seek shelter,
ascending and falling onomatopoetically celebrate wedding.

Under the lantern there is an artistic meeting place, which celebrates the meeting of traditional and new music from the Orient and the Occident. Traditional melodies from Greece, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Arab countries and the Alpine region meet in this concert cycle and form the basis for a creative dialogue between the participating artists.

The project is based on the idea of the Greek musician Andreas Paragioudakis-Fink, who wants to share his musical experience with artists* of other cultures and religions and set a creative process in motion by lovingly interacting with each other:

"This togetherness is to be felt through music. And the audience should be part of this pulse, share our breaths, feel our longings. For all we have are our instruments, our imagination and - in the service of beauty - our devotion to art".

From 2018 to 2020, host and artistic director Andreas Paragioudakis-Fink and three to five ever-changing musicians will devote themselves to a different theme in twelve concerts. Through the language of music, they seek the unifying, the enlightening, the embracing and the unifying.

The experimental and improvisational approach plays an essential role in this: it should encourage the participating musicians* from different cultures to find a common denominator in order to create something new.
