hin.hören: Clara Luzia

Clara Luzia, who was born in Lower Austria, is famous for her touching and haunting songs that go beyond genre boundaries. Her latest album "When I Take Your Hand" (2018) could be interpreted as a retreat into private life as a sensible option for "cultural pessimism" - especially since she not only formulates a love song to her wife (and drummer) Catharina ("The Story Of You & Me") and commemorates her great-grandmother ("I Remember You"), but also puts the rod in the window for her inner demons ("Survival"). But the album is neither navel-gazing nor a call to retreat, but rather an almost arbitrary collection of songs as a chronicle of its time. Where exactly this collection of songs is to be located can only be decided from the perspective of retrospect anyway. Until then, holding hands is not the worst option and certainly not a political instruction for action. With seven studio albums, compositions for film and theater, and the presentation of the Amadeus Music Award (2008), she demonstrates her artistic diversity.

Thus DER STANDARD writes: "Even though everything has been said in pop, it has rarely sounded so good".
