bühne.frei, Konzert: Die Schurken

What it feels like to be the eternal insider tip? Well, it would be best to ask Erik Satie himself that.
That's exactly the case with him. Born in Honfleur in 1866, he is probably one of those composers and musicians who have had a particular influence on contemporary music. He insisted in his music on simplicity - not without refinement - and in his lyrics on wit and bizarreness. Why "The Rogues" came up with Satie for their new concert is perhaps explained by this inner kinship, but perhaps also by the fact that Satie simply made good music.
The villains of course also play with all the clichés of France and play them off against each other. A trick Satie would probably have liked, who earned his living as a bar pianist in the Paris cabaret Le Chat Noir and used the time there for musical experiments.
And so this staged concert of the "villains" is more about the longing for Paris, for a performance of Paris, than about the actual achievement of this longing.  All four characters present different facets of Parisian savoir vivre. The compositions of Satie will of course be heard and seen there, but also those of his contemporaries - and the whole thing will be garnished with the partly ludicrous texts of the composer.
