Ski resort Brandnertal
The Brandnertal ski area includes 55km of groomed piste skiing between 890 – 2,000m, mostly on east facing slopes that stretch from north to south between the resort villages of Bűrserberg and Brand. The lift served vertical drop is 963m and around 75% of the ski area has artificial snow coverage when needed. There’s also a half pipe and there are off piste opportunities in the area. Visitors to Brandnertal are well served by an efficient ski lift system of 14 lifts.These include two new modern cable cars, a gondola, 6 chairlifts and 5 surface lifts. Brandnertal has two ski schools. Both schools offer ski, snowboarding, cross-country ski tuition.

Excellent for families
Brandnertal makes a very strong point of being family friendly and this philosophy is very evident in the ski school product. Young children (from 3-5 years) have their own learning area ‘Kinderland’ situated in the middle of Brand village. Here they take their first steps towards learning to ski in what may be described as a playground on snow, complete with fun characters and little courses laid out with colourful poles and arches marking the way. Children aged 8 and under ski free at all times, and there are discounts for older children and teenagers up to eighteen years.
Toboggan run in the Brandnertal ski resort in Bürserberg. The 1.4 km path follows along the Einhorn lift I. The chair lift conveniently takes you to the starting point.

Accommodation in winter
Brandnertal hotel choices include several affordable 4 star hotels, followed by a good choice of cheaper hotel properties descending through the star ratings as well as cute family run pensions and plenty of self catering apartments. Some hotels have a ‘Family Friendly’ accreditation, and depending on the level of facilities provided will qualify for 3, 4 or 5 of the ‘Kiddies’ symbols.

Other winter activities
In addition to downhill skiing and boarding, other activities include at least two toboggan runs, one of which is 6 km long, as well as 72 km of cross country skiing, which includes a glorious 15 km circular route at 1,250 m at Tschengla (Bürserberg). Add to that snow shoeing and an extensive winter walking paths and all the ingredients are in place for a traditional Austrian ski holiday.
